Learning Music, Empowering kids and Strengthening Family
Through love, laughter and music.

"It is a great opportunity to spend quality time with my son and to have so much fun. We started when he was less than 2 years old and he's singing dancing and trying to follow the rhythm patterns at home. It's amazing how he remembers the songs and tries to do the thing we were practicing in the class."

I've been in Music Together for over 10 years with all my three kids. I love Music Together because unlike sports, I can participate and it's something special I can do with my child. I love watching each of my children really enjoy the class, and watch them start to clap, start to get rhythms and start to sing.

For us, Music Together is music we can enjoy anytime everywhere, yet the classes are a very special time. The classes are not only for the kids, it's also a good time for parents. My daughter helps clean up at home with the melody "Bye-Bye" which is used in the class, while my son loves taking the lead to arrange the songs in class.
Also, if you can't speak English well, don't worry!

Axelle (4years old) does not go to preschool or day care. Music Together is the first class she has been exposed to and Seven her first teacher. She has associated the words "teacher" and "classes" with "fun". I used to play the piano, but dropped it because I didn't find it fun enough. But now I find time to reinsert it in my busy schedule so I can play the Music Together songs!
Fun is the Key to embracing a new activity, and thus learning. So may fun always continue as our children learn.

It's much more than Learning Music . . .
Why Should Children under 6 years learn music?
We are all born music-makers!
Early in life, music has tremendous power to support the developing child in all their growing capacities.
Ongoing research continues to underscore the profound impact of ‘nurture’ on a child’s brain development during their first three years. Early experiences and social interactions play an integral role in shaping physical brain architecture, gene expression, biological processes and, therefore, a child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Our developmentally appropriate and research-based Music Together program not only supports music learning and development but also can help to promote overall healthy brain development in infants and young children, benefitting the child in multiple developmental domains.
It enhances a child’s language, cognitive, emotional, social, physical development as well as their learning habits and dispositions.
Why Gary and Seven Family Music Together?
Everyone has their own rhythm. We want you to express yours!
With over 12 years experience playing and teaching music, Gary and Seven love and breathe music. They sing and play music for their daughter every day and it's a natural and fun part of daily life.
Gary and Seven have used music to help stimulate, nurture and bond with their daughter. They use music while travelling in the car, train or bus, to change nappies, and even when their daughter gets upset because she doesn't get what she wants.
Gary and Seven Family Music Together® provides children a wealth of musical experiences to share with the grownups who love them. With songs in a range of musical rhythms and styles (lyrical to blues, world music and folk), along with fun and engaging activities, your toddler receives a rich music experience that stimulates and supports their growing skills and understanding.
Why Mixed-Aged classes?
A shared musical experience
Our classes give children from birth to age 6 the environment they need to grow and develop while interacting both socially and musically with other children of varying ages.
Babies will engage at their own level, vocalizing, moving, listening, observing, and exploring musical instruments. Toddlers learn by watching others (especially their loved ones) and by playing and experimenting. They will sing, move, listen, observe, and explore musical instruments in a welcoming and supportive environment.
Child development researchers have found that grouping together children of varying ages fosters natural, family-style learning. Children—even babies!—are inspired and stimulated through interaction with peers of different ages: younger children watch and imitate older ones and older children lead younger ones.
And any or all of your child's caregivers—parents, grandparents, nannies—can come share in the experience, both in class and at home. The whole family is welcome!
What instrument do you teach?
We were all born with the best instrument.
We don't teach instruments (though in class we play with many instruments like egg shakers, drums, caterpillars, triangles, sticks, and bells and xylophone) Learning instruments is not as beneficial at this age as most place too much emphasis on right and wrong, expectations, grades and performances.
Instead children benefit from and learn more by observing, being creative, exploring, experimenting and modelling peers and adults.
We teach music using our BODY - the instrument we are born with. The sounds we make, our movements, our rhythms, these are the building blocks of music and of early childhood learning.
Remember, music is more than instruments. Music is a powerful force that can inspire, create community, teach and nurture development and behaviours and build family bonds.
But my english is not good!
Music is the Universal Language
Your family will benefit from Gary and Seven's Family Music Together, even if English is not your first language. That's because all cultures share the common language of music and movement. Our syllabus includes a diverse range of music styles (folk, jazz, tribal etc) and even songs without words, that provide engaging experiences of rhythm, song, culture, and community from around the world. Music truly is a universal language!
